The Suns would then defeat the Los Angeles Lakers in five games in the Western Conference First round before a six-game series victory over the San Antonio Spurs in the Semifinals and a seven-game series over the Seattle SuperSonics in the Conference Finals to earn a date with the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Finals. There, Barkley and his Suns were unable to overcome the Michael Jordan-led Bulls, falling in six games to end their season.
